                            The 10 Commandments of God

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest (Reveal) myself to him.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Matt 22:37-40  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38  This is the first and great commandment.

39  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.  (Summery=Love God/Love your neighbor)

Matt 5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Moral Laws: The Ten Commandments
Ceremonial Laws: These laws govern the religious practices of Israel, including sacrifices, festivals, (Fulfilled)
Civil Laws: The Law also includes regulations for social justice, property rights, and community welfare.
Role of the Prophets: Prophets were divinely appointed messengers who conveyed God's word to the people

At this time lets dissect the 10 commandments, one commandment at a time.

Exo 20:3  Thou shalt have (1)no other gods before me.

Money: The pursuit of money leads to a focus on material wealth instead of spiritual gain.
Success: Many people idolize success, often pursuing it outside of God's will, which can lead to dissatisfaction and a lack of true fulfillment.(Give the Lord praise for your Blessings)
Control: Relying on Individual Power, instead of God, can lead to a lack of trust in spiritual guidance.
Humanism: Humanism teaches that individuals should be responsible and resourceful in solving our own problems, often leading to the denial of God's existence and power, and  leaning on human-centered values.
Idolatry: Idols are anything that takes God's place such as work, success, and material possessions.

Exo 20:4  Thou shalt not make unto thee any (2)graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5  Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exo 20:7  Thou shalt not take the (3) name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
The Hebrew word we translate as “Vain” carries a meaning of empty, hollow, nothing, worthless, or to no good purpose.

Its more then cursing

3 Examples of Taking The Lord’s Name In Vain
Some people think that using the Lord’s name in vain means using God’s name as a cuss word. But that’s just one-way, but this misses the heart of this commandment.

1. Using God’s Name For Your Own Gain
One way people use God’s name in vain is by using His name for their own benefit.
An extreme example is a TV evangelist who promises God’s blessing if you just give them your money. But it’s not limited to preachers. We take the Lord’s name in vain when we take advantage of others for our own gain.
Christians manipulate friends, family members, significant others, and co-workers in God’s name for their own gain. That’s taking God’s name in vain.
Whether it be using God’s name to get rich, to get power, or to gain control over someone.

2. Using God’s Name To Justify Your Actions
Using God’s name as a justification for our actions. Marriages have ended, business decisions have been made, and life choices set all in God’s name. Many throw God’s name out as a trump card of sorts as to why their actions are right.
We take the Lord’s name in vain when we use it to justify our actions for selfish, or sinful, reasons.
3. Cursing The Name Of God
We are to honor God’s name, not to use as a curse word. We need to show respect and reverence for the holy name of God.

Exo 20:8  (4)Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

The word “Sabbath” is related to a Hebrew root that means “cease” or “stop.” God commanded His people to cease from their labor, so they could rest, refresh, and build a relationship with our Savior.

Exo 20:9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10  But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Heb 4:8-10  For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9  There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
James 1:25  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
James 2:10-12  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11  For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12  So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Exo 20:12 (5) Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Eph 6:1-3  Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2  Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Exo 20:13 9 (6)(Thou shalt not kill.
Matt 5:21  Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22  But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca(Worthless), shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool(stupid), shall be in danger of hell fire.

Exo 20:14  (7)Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Matt 5:27-28  Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28  But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Exo 20:15  (8)Thou shalt not steal.
1Thess 4:6  That no man go beyond and defraud(Take advantage, Making gain) his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

Exo 20:16  (9)Thou shalt not bear false witness(Testimony) against thy neighbour.
Prov 19:5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
Eph 4:31  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour(Grief), and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice (Wickedness)

Exo 20:17 (10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Mat 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you

1Tim 6:6 -10 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9  But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Eccl 5:19  Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
