Devil Created
Is there a real Spiritual world? What role do spirits play in man's life? How does a spirit world influence what happens in our material world? Are there other powerful beings in heaven known as angels? When, and how did a powerful angel called Lucifer become an adversary? What influence did Satan have in the fall of man and is he the god of this world?
To most people, Satan represents the ultimate form of evil. Satan is the chief of all demons and evil spirits, the archrival of God and Jesus Christ, He is not someone to be worshiped and adored. That is why Satan must use lies and deceit if he is to influence most people.
The Bible tells us that, “God is a spirit, and that we must worship Him in the spirit and in truth,” (John 4:24), whom no one has ever seen, (John 1:18; 1 Timothy 6:16), and from the Bible we know there is a great multitude of angels and they are very powerful beings, in heaven and on earth, and they are called angels or spiritual beings, (Revelation 5:11). The angels of God have a purpose, they often appear in the Bible as recording agents or messengers for God or serving and the protection of human beings. Although occasionally angels do manifest themselves in something resembling human forms, (Genesis 18:1-3), they are not bound by physical limitation. They are created, eternal beings in the spirit world.
They are supernatural or heavenly beings a little higher in dignity than man. Angels are created beings, (Psalm 148:5; Colossians 1:16). Scripture does not tell us the time of their creation, but we know that it was before the creation of man, (Job 38:7). They are described as “spirit beings, (Hebrews 1:14). There are various ranks such as—Michael—called an archangel, (Jude 9). This great host of angels, both good and bad, are highly organized, (Romans 8:38; Ephesians 1:21; 3:10).
The earth is estimated to be 3 ½ billion years old. It is not known definitely when life appeared on the earth, but there is evidence of its existence at a very early period. In the beginning was God, sitting in space, in a mass universe of darkness, no moon or sun, galaxies or an earth. Then Yahweh (God) started His creation by bringing in His first creature: a spiritual being: His firstborn, His Son, Jesus Christ, (Psalm 89:27). “Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee,” (Psalm 2:7). “Who is the image of the invisible God; the first born (created) of every creature. For by Him were all things created, that in heaven, and that are on the earth, visible and invisible,” (Colossians 1:15-16).
God created messengers, angels, as to the nature of angels in the limited sense; they are “spirits,” (Hebrews 1:7,14), of wind like velocity, subtle nature, capable of close communion with God; shares in His truth, purity, and love, since they ever behold His face, (Matthew 18:10). Lucifer was the second creature created. “He was perfect in all thy ways,” (Ezekiel 28:15), he was the bright and morning star, his brightness was as the sun, which lit up the universe when he became caretaker of the earth. After Lucifer was created, millions upon millions of other angels were created by Jesus Christ to worship and serve the living God. Why were Lucifer and the other angels created? God is love, (1 John 4:8) and God is Holy, (Isaiah 6:3), because love is His predominated characteristic God desired to surround His throne with creatures that He might love, and that He might be loved, (1 John 3:1).
After Michael the Archangel was created, Lucifer a Cherub, was then created, the most beautiful angel above all other that were created. “Thou are the anointed cherub (angel) that covereth,” (Ezekiel 28:14). He (Lucifer) is like to the Cherub that guarded the gate of Paradise, and kept Adam from the way of the tree of life, (Genesis 3:24), or to the one of the Cherubs whose wings spread out that covereth the mercy seat, (Exodus 25:20). “Thou were perfect in all thy ways from the day that thou was created, thy brightness (likened unto the sun); the most beautiful angel with the greatest wisdom of all created angels. “He walked up and down among the stones of fire;” that is, the way has been paved with precious stones that shone and sparkled like fire,” (Ezekiel 28:12-15).
The Biblical hierarchies are called Archangel, Cherubim (plural of Cherub), Seraphim also appears in the Bible. The Cherubim’s guarded Eden, (Genesis 3:22-24), and are described as throne bearers of (Yahweh) God, (Ezekiel 1:22-28). The Seraph or Seraphim—from a word meaning “Fire” or “burning” are found only in Isaiah 6:2, 6, this same aspect is featured in the vision in Revelation chapter 4:4-5, attending the throne of God. It has been suggested that they symbolized lightning. Certainly their posture, (there face and feet covered by their wings), was the one who worship and had adoration before (Elohim) God, contributing to the sense of awe and reverence in His presence. The Bible meaning for Lucifer is “the Light Bearer” Satan, the chief of the fallen spirits, the grand adversary of God and man.
When Lucifer was still a righteous Cherub, God made Him ruler over the earth. But that position did not satisfy him. He wanted more, he became driven by vanity and greed. He wanted to control everything, not just the earth. His desire was to be like Jehovah, (Ezekiel 28:12-15). According to the Bible, The devil was the Angel--the shining one or Light Bearer, (Isaiah 14:12-14), His pride led him to rebel against God and that is when he became Satan, the prince of darkness, (Ephesians 2:2), the same one who tempted Adam and Eve, (Genesis 3:1-5).
Unfortunately, not all the spirits in this world are good and helpful because many are on the dark side, evil, called demons. You cannot understand the spirit world without understanding the role of Satan, the devil, and ruler of the power of darkness, leader of the forces of demons. It is clear that their principle purpose is to oppose God and try to defeat God’s will and His plan for man’s eternal life journey, (Romans 8:38:39). You see, the spiritual world now, is in control of this physical world.
Lucifer, the bright and morning star had become filled with pride because of his beauty and power that God had signed to him as overseer of the earth, (1 Timothy 3:6). He had charge over one third of all the angels that were created to help him with the caretaker of the whole world, (Revelation 12:4). He began thinking that he should be a ruler like God and be above God. But to become a ruler he needed to overthrow Jehovah. So, Lucifer mounted a rebellion (war) against God’s throne in Heaven, (Revelation 12:7). There was a great war in heaven and he fought against Michael (Jesus) and His angels that rebelled against him, (Revelation 12:9). Jesus was there and saw it happen, because He was the one who led his army to fight the rebellious angels. He recalled, “I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven,” (Luke 10:18).
So Lucifer was no longer (the morning star) “light bringer” the sun that lit up the whole earth, but now a adversary, an aggressor, a competitor, an enemy. Few today remotely realize how great the power of Satan is. Like many today, Adam completely underestimated him. Satan got to Adam through his wife Eve. He did not say, “Choose my way!” No, he deceived her into believing God had been unfair to her, that God was holding back something good from them, which man ought to be free to decide for themselves what is right and wrong and not have God telling then what to do.
Now, since Adam and Eve had sinned, they could no longer stay in paradise of Eden. God had planted that beautiful garden for an obedient people, one who would be trustworthy and obedient to follow God’s instructions, (Jeremiah 7:23). Thus, he (Adam) lost all of this by disobeying God, and so, according to God’s laws that says, “The soul that sins shall surely die,” (Ezekiel 18:20-21). So we must as Christians must face up to reality of the spirit world and take certain steps to ensure our spiritual survival so we can regain paradise through an act of loving kindness of God Almighty.
When God “drove out Adam” from the Garden of Eden, the Lord placed Cherubims with flaming swords to keep them from coming back to eat from the tree of life, (Genesis 3:22-24). You have made the decision for yourself and the world that shall spring from you will live under sin of Adam for 6000 years. Satan has now, become god of this earth, and has been for almost 6000 years, until the second coming of Christ who will destroy Satan and his demons in the lake of fire. This present age is under subjection of fallen angels. The demons, and the devil that is their head, rule this present earth and has swayed the inhabitants, the offshoots of Adam. The Bible affirms that very fact.
The judgment and punishment is about to fall on the people for rejecting Jesus Christ. And the ruler or prince of this world, who is understood to be Satan, had blinded the eyes and hardened the hearts of the unbelievers that they might not believe on the Son of God. Satan, who usurped power over the world, was now to be greatly restrained, and totally destroyed and cast into of lake of fire, (Matthew 25:41). Among the Devil’s characterizations are “The god of this world,” (2 Corinthians 4:4), “The prince of the power of the air,” (Ephesians 2:2), “the prince of this world,” (John 12:31). All these point to his immense power, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against power, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against wicked spirits in high places,” (Ephesians 6:12). “Our enemy is a murderer and a liar,” (John 8:44). His principal method of attack is that of temptation, (Matthew 4:3-10), and his leading temptation can be grouped under, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, (1 John 2:16).
He is also called “Abaddon” (destroyer) in Revelation 9:11, “Beelzebub, the prince of devils," (Matthew 12:24), “the Accuser of our brethren,” (Revelation 12:10-12) where he is also characterized as “the Great Dragon,” “the Old Serpent,” and “the Deceiver of the whole world,” (Revelation 12:9). Satan hates the Jews and God’s people the Christians, from the beginning of time, with Adam, then with Abraham when he left Ur, (Genesis 12:11-15), with rebellion of Israel, (Numbers 20:7-11), then when Jesus was born at Bethlehem, (Matthew 2:16) and when Jesus started His ministry with the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness, (Mark 1:12-13) and finality at Jesus death on the cross, (Luke 23:23-24), where Christ defeated him thru His resurrection (Mathew 28:6).
As love, truth, and holiness characterizes God, so malice, hatred, murder, lying and uncleanness characterizes Satan. The devil can still adversely influence Christians if they are not spiritually watchful. His power and sway over humanity in general will not be taken away until Christ returns at the end of this present age. The Bible says the Devil and his demons still exercise power over the nations. The Devil’s spiritual power can influence every one.
Throughout the length and depth of our nation, Satan “has been going forth as a roaring lion seeking to devour whom he may,” (1 Peter 5:8). Satan remains to this day in opposition to everything God stands for. He knows what God’s plans are, and is intent on overthrowing and defeating it and taking as many souls with him to hell as he can.
Anyone therefore who seeks help from the spirit world must understand that there is an evil and deceitful enemy waiting to lead the unwary astray. The Bible warns us with good reason to, “Have no fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness,” (Ephesians 5:11). “Channeling is part of the fast growing “New Age Movement” around the world, a modern-day mysticism that draws from Buddhism, Hinduism and Western occultism, among other traditions such as our sociologists and psychologists.
These channelers, and those who heed their messages, feel they must restructure their lives to conform to the advice from these messages, (Leviticus 19:31; Acts 16:16-19). Yet in most cases, the channeled messages are at direct disagreement with Biblical principles, (Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Ezekiel 13:6-7).
Most mediums-or fortunetellers, spiritualist and magicians are riddled with trickery, deceit and fraud. But are these people fakes? By no means! There are spirit events brought about by these people with the help of hostile spirits, (Isaiah 8:19-20). Astrologers, Divination, Reincarnation and Cults, the road to ultimate ruins, it is like a giant whirlpool that relentlessly tugs you closer to the place where it can suck you down into depths of hell. Experience has shown that for those who let their guard down, a potential exists of being strongly influenced or even possessed by Satan or demons that desire to gain control over the minds of human beings. Though demons may appear to be “good spirits,” these spirits want humans to follow them or give up their will to them-to surrender their egos and their bodies, (1 John 4:1).
There is a real “Spirit world.” The doctrine that all must speak in “Tongues” is not Biblical. It’s a modern day spiritualism that has taken over the world, modern day Witchcraft has opened the floodgates for one of Satan’s great Deceptions of our times. Many hungry souls are being deceived by a counterfeit “tongues” and fall victims to the wrong spirit.
In this mixed-up society, many people are bored and frustrated with their government and churches. They become “seekers.” They involve themselves with astrology’s and psychic activities of various kinds, mostly in the western world. They all want to “Experience” a spirit world. Witchcraft, tongues, and occult teaching are one of our main concerns, (Acts 2:7-8). But they forget-or may never have realized—that some have given themselves over to powers they do not understand having not come out unscathed.
It is time we come to the understanding the truth about this much-misunderstood subject. Is there an unseen world—a world of spirit forces behind certain forms of mental illness, horrifying and unnatural acts of violence masquerading as insanity-and even religious miracles that masquerade as acts of God?
There is an unseen world of spirits-good and evil. There is not only a Creator God, but there are lesser evil spirit beings, two thirds of whom administer God’s government in obedience, and another third under leadership of Satan, who are in a state of rebellion. The Bible sheds a great deal of light on this subject. It reveals that there is indeed a world of spirits! But the Bible warns of the dangers of humans dabbling in that world.
Saul assumed the demon was Samuel-just as spiritualists assume they are contacting the spirits of the dead, (1 Samuel 28:7-18). It is the world of demons that is behind spirits manifestation in séances, spirit photographs and electronic voice phenomena. Masquerading as “Spirits of the dead,” they deceive the biblically unlearned-just as King Saul was deceived at Endor! Demons are spirits of darkness. Spiritualism is a work of darkness. Little wonder that it is normal spiritualists practice to conduct séances in a darkened room. Strong light, say spiritualists, hinders communication with the spirits. This fact in itself should tell them something about what kind of spirits they are dealing with. Demonic influence and, in some cases, actual possession still occur-yes, even in our modern, sophisticated world of the twenty first century. Opening one’s mind to demonic influence through a preoccupation with occultism and interest in the supernatural is therefore fraught with potential danger.
Nearly 2000 years ago, the apostle Paul admonished: “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, (Ephesians 5:11). The apostle James warned, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you,” (James 4:7). People must guard the doors of their minds. In the first two chapters of the book of Job we have a remarkable account of Satan’s activities and method of his operations.
It is but natural that Satan’s counterfeit are of the flesh-even his counterfeit of spiritual things. So, Satan the devil gives to people feelings, and emotions, and thrills-and induces many zealous seekers after the Holy Spirit to accept these pleasing sensations as “Blessings” and “Manifestations” of the Holy Spirit! God’s ways is the way of crucifying the flesh, the sensual-of denying the self and then loving God and his fellow man. Satan’s counterfeit is self-seeking, lusting for Fleshly Thrills, and Feeling, and blessings that bring pleasure through the five scenes.
The belief that the spirits of those who have “passed on’ can make contact with the living is known today as “spiritualism of spiritism.” Modern spiritism had its birth in Hydesville, New York, in the middle of the last century—specifically, March 31, 1884.
Just what Paul encountered when he was at Philippi when he was going down to pray beside the river when he met a demon-possessed slave girl who was a fortune teller, and earned much money for her master when Paul cast out that evil spirit. It is a characteristic of the gospel and Acts to note that being of the demonic world were sensitive to the presence of an inspired person. They possess great knowledge about the past and the future, about life and death and about each of our lives, what we have done in the past and will try to influence us about the future.
The Devil makes every effort to keep people from losing the shackles of their spiritual imprisonment; one ruse involves yanking the good news of salvation from the minds of many and put in fear before they grasp its excellence. Even those who have accepted Jesus’ saving grace-who are God’s children-are not immune to the devil’s influence. The New Testament warns that Satan assaults members of God’s Spiritual household. But resisting and fighting Satan is one battle we are all commanded to wage. The Bible tells us in order to withstand Satan, we must put on the full armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of His power. Put God’s armor on so as to be able to resist the devil’s tactics. For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against ruler of darkness and power who originate the darkness in this world, the spiritual army of evil in the heavens. This is why you must rely on the armor of God, or you will not be able to put up any resistance when worst happens, or have enough resources to hold our ground, (Ephesians 6:14-18).
God had a plan for His people to escape what is about to come upon this earth, which was through Jesus perfect life and His atoning sacrifice. “For this purpose the Son of God was manifest, that He might destroy the works of the devil,” (1 John 3:8). “That through death He might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage,” (Hebrews 2:14-15).
We are now entering an awesome period of time, the time when Satan and his army of evil spirits will wage their supreme battle to overthrow God’s people, just before the end of this age on earth. We are told that Satan has declared an all-out war with the Remnant of God’s people in the last days, (Revelation 12:17).
Jesus foretold this period vividly: “for false Christ’s and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders so as to deceive if possible, even the very elect,” (Matthew 24:24). It is time for all true people of God to awake to the great evil in many churches that have been craftily put there by Satan through human agencies by the evil one. Christianity is a gospel of salvation; it is also a way of life.
So, God did not create a devil. He created a cherub, Lucifer, perfect in his ways, but with the power of free choice, Lucifer transformed himself into a devil by rebellion against the government of God.
On judgment day you will not be able to say that the devil made me do it, so the right thing to do is to repent and except Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. That’s why our Heavenly Father sent His son into this world to save sinners, so, we can repent and ask that our sins be forgiven, and of course, they are. God says they are removed “as far as east from the west,” (Psa 103:12).
Based on Scriptures such as “He put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself,” (Hebrews 9:26). “His own self bares our sins in His own body on the tree,” (1 Peter 2:24) “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,” (1 Corinthians 15:3). “He was manifested to take away our sins,” (1 John 3:5). “No greater love is shown when a person lay down his life for a friend, and you are my friend if you obey Me,” (John 15:13-14). Jesus made it most plain that there is only one authentic way to reach God on the throne, and that is through Himself, Jesus Christ the Lord. “I am the way,” He declared. “No man cometh unto the Father but by me,” (John 14:3).
Of Himself, He had this to say: “I am the good shepherd,” (John 10:14). “I am the door,” (John 10:9). “I am the light of the world,” (John 8:12). “I am the living bread,” (John 6:51). “I am the way, the truth, and the life,”(John 14:6). “I am the vine,” (John 15:1). “And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous; and He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world,” (1 John 2:1-2). “I am He that liveth and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of heaven and death,” (Revelation 1:18).
Right now today, the shed blood of Jesus saves us “from sin and the wrath to come,” (Romans 5:9). “By His blood we are sanctified,” (Hebrews 13:12), “cleansed,” (1 John 1:7), ”purged,” (Hebrews 9:22), “washed,” (Revelation 1:5), “made white,” (Revelation 7:14), “and healed,” (Jeremiah 17:14). Through the power of His blood, shed on the cross we were “reconciled,” (Colossians 1:20), “made perfect,” (Hebrews 13:21), “redeemed,” (Revelation 5:9), “justified,” (Romans 5:9), ”purchase,” (Acts 20:28), “covered,” (Romans 4:7), “shield,” (Psalm 144:2; Proverbs 30:5), “forgiveness,” (Colossian 1:14; Ephesians 1:7), and “remission,” (Matthew 26:28), and “saved,” (1 Timothy 1:15).
This is how we can defeat Satan and his demons by accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and when we accept and sincerely believe in Jesus Christ and truly repent of our sins, our sins are pardoned. The barrier that kept us from a joyful relationship with God is removed.
What is the end result of the forgiveness of sins and the refashioning of the human mind? “The gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord,” (Romans 6:23). The human minds are than refashioned toward the perfection of God’s way. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have become new,” (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you have read this article and the Lord has touched you, turn to Him right now. Right now, yes, you can become that new person today.
